The Truth about Saturated Fats

Are you still confused about saturated fats?   Fats are an essential nutrient that our bodies need to function normally, and healthily. Fats provide energy, help absorb certain vitamins and minerals, maintain our body temperature, and they insulate our bodies vital organs. We love fat!   But fats can be confusing, what’s good? What’s bad? Should we be avoiding them? Should we be eating more of them? We’re constantly fed different, and often misleading information, but i’m here to debunk the truth about fat!   The most common statement we hear all the time is that saturated fat is bad for us. This isn’t all true, but it’s not all false either. Saturated fats that derive from animal products can be detrimental for your overall health, as they offer little counter benefits. Dairy products such as milk, cheese, and butter contain low levels of medium-chain triglycerides (MCT), which is the most healthful element of saturated fat. Research suggests that our body processes MCT differently from other saturated fats and they provide our body with energy and help to maintain weight by increasing satiety, or the sense of being full. pexels-photo-1539867   So where are MCT found? In coconut! Coconut oil (and cocofrio ice cream!) are super high in MCT, so provide wonderful health benefits. Studies show that medium-chain fats suppress appetite, helping people eat fewer calories, and can assist in boosting metabolism by up to 120 calories per day. Many studies also  show that these types of fats can have benefits for people with Alzheimer's, and they have also been shown to help you lose that stubborn belly fat.   Whilst in the end, many saturated fats are not good for you, coconut is the one you should be reaching for. An easy way to do this is by reaching for coconut milk, or coconut milk based ice creams! Might we suggest Cocofrio?
