Posted by Tintin Sealey

It’s no secret that Australia is the home of some of the world’s most picturesque beaches.  A survey by Experience Oz determined some of the most beautiful beaches voted by Australian’s themselves, and here’s just a few of the local favourites…
  • Bondi Beach, NSW
The first places most non-locals think of when they hear the word “Australia” is Bondi Beach. Located close to the city and surrounded by hip cafes, Bondi Beach is hub for locals and tourists to spend their days. The wholesome atmosphere of people from every corner of the globe makes for a beach experience like no other. You won’t hear of anyone making the trip to Sydney and not making a stop to Bondi! thursblog
  • Lizard Island, QLD
Lizard Island is located in the famous Great Barrier Reef. This beautiful island getaway encapsulates everything that Australia has to offer. On this one single island, there are over 23 white beaches to choose from. Whether you want to relax in your own private villa, or enjoy your day on the popular public beaches, either way you’re bound to never want to leave.
  • Mandalay Beach, WA
When you think Western Australia, scenic beaches are probably not going to be the first things that come to mind. Mandalay Beach is located just south of Perth near the town of Walpole. It’s isolation from the bustle of Perth is what adds to the charm of this hidden location. The land Mandalay beach is located on is different to any of the other beaches we mention, however the uniqueness is what makes this location so special.
  • Wineglass Bay, TAS
Wineglass Bay is located in the Freycinet National Park, around a 2 hour drive from Launceston and 3 hours from Hobart. This beach is one of Tasmania’s selling points, and for good reason too. Pink granite peaks and sparkling blue waters surround the shoreline. If relaxing on the sand isn’t for you, you have the choice of snorkelling, kayaking, wildlife spotting and hiking. Wineglass bay is best viewed from a one hour hike and access to the beach can found by a downhill portion of the track.
  • Whitehaven Beach, QLD
The number one most beautiful beach as voted by Australian’s is Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays. Most people are familiar with images of the vast white beach, but very few people know that it’s located right here in Australia. The sand is silica, which is an extremely high purity form of sand with fine grains that make it soft to touch. Paired with the clearest blue oceans you will ever see, Whitehaven Beach is an experience like no other.
