5 Steps to Your Dream Tropical Vacation

Posted by Tintin Sealey

beach-blue-clouds-1430673 It’s freezing cold here in Melbourne, and yes, this is probably not the best weather to put on your bikinis and hit the beach. However, if you’d been fantasising about a tropical getaway for quite some time, we might have just the blog for you.
It’s always good to plan ahead, and if you’re one of the people who’s been saying “someday” to that week of sun, sand, and sea for a good year or two, let this be the sign for you to stop postponing and start planning.
Whether it’s snorkeling in Palawan or drinking fresh coconut water in Phuket, this step-by-step guide is here to get you started planning for that dream vacation!
Step 1: Decide where your dream destination is
If you’re one of the people who’s got way too much on that destination bucket list, narrowing down your choices is a good first step. It’s alright not to know exactly where you’re going just yet. Start by picking out a few destinations you want to go to soonest and move on from there.
Step 2: Figure out who’s really in
Whether you’re going solo, with family members or with friends, pinning down who’s going with you will give you a better idea of the perfect destination, when the trip will be scheduled, and how much it will cost.
Step 3: Know the best times to visit
The best time to visit beaches in Thailand is from November to April, while the best months for water activities in Bali are April, May, June, and September. Knowing the best times to visit not only will save you from crowded beaches and expensive plane tickets, but also you wrecking your beach vacation by visiting at a bad time, such as during monsoon season.
Step 4: Figure out the cost (and how to save for it)
Now that you’ve figured out where the destination is and who you’re traveling with, it’s time to calculate the cost. With a total, you can start planning how to save for it or make adjustments if the number seems, well, impossible. If that happens, consider extending the trip date out (so you can save a bit more), shorten the period of stay, or search for more affordable options.
Step 5: Stop saying you’ll go there "someday"
Most of the time when we wish we could, we should. When you put things off for too long, there’s a chance you’ll never get to do them. Your money will return, your time won’t. So start planning now!
